Alaska SeaLife Center
Public Aquarium & Wildlife Rescue Center
Education
Located in Seward, Alaska, the SeaLife Center hosts over 150,000 visitors each year. In addition to visiting the aquarium’s interactive exhibits and dozens of resident aquatic species, patrons can take part in special experiences such as animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours, and field trips.
Rescue
ASLC is the only organization authorized to rehabilitate injured, abandoned, and stranded marine animals in the state of Alaska. The Center works with organizations across the state to bring in seals, sea lions, otters, and birds in need of medical assitance.
Research
The Science Program at ASLC works to gain a deeper understanding of aquatic Alaskan ecosystems. Both in labs and in the field, researchers work to study aquatic food chains, the reproductive processes of aquatic species, and the human impact on this fragile environment.
Inspiration
The aquarium’s hands-on, interactive experiences allow for visitors of all ages to understand and appreciate the untamed complex Alaskan wilderness. Exhibits mixing live animals with educational displays break down environmental topics such as climate change, food webs, and the many Alaskan environments.
