Coastwalk

Stewardship of the California Coastal Trail

Accessibility

In 1983, grassroots supporters of a trail system along the West Coast of the US came together to ensure public recreational access to a variety of coastal environments and activities.

Education

Beginning over 35 years ago, the founders of Coastwalk, Bill and Lucy Kortum (pictured), engaged the public in coastal preservation via multi-day walks and educational activities. These “Coastwalks” continue to this day, with several treks taking place each year transforming dozens of lives.

Stewardship

Coastwalk helps in keeping the California Coastal Trail a clean and safe recreational site throughout the state. Volunteers participate in an annual Coastal Cleanup Day, when people across the state help restore our shores and waterways to their natural, pollution-free state.

Completion

Despite the amazing work this organization has done, there is still work to be done. The California Coastal Trail has yet to be completed throughout the state, and Coastwalk works daily to help make this decades-old dream a reality.

Help complete the CCT and make it accessible to all, “one step at a time”
