Marine Mammal Care Center

Marine Life Rescue and Research

Animal Management

After a patient is admitted to the Marine Mammal Care Center, the animal is cared for thoroughly, with medical, nutritional and behavior logs kept for each animal.

Rehabilitation

The MMCC is the largest marine mammal hospital in the world, with over 8,000 animals rehabilitated in its lifetime and 10,000 students taught each year.

Tagging and Monitoring

Before release, seals and sea lions receive an orange tag that allow for reports of their location and satellite tracking. The information received through tracking is critical to research teams at the care center and across the state.

Education

The MMCC is part of many crucial disaster response groups and conducts important research on marine mammal diseases, treatment and populations

Give a helping hand to a seal or sea lion in need, and support research that is life saving for the entire marine population.
