Cool Earth
Fighting Climate Change by Empowering Indigenous Communities
Support
Cool Earth’s principal mission is to recognize, respect, and support the indigenous communities that have been nurturing critical rainforest habitats for thousands of years, by providing them with the resources to live autonomously and continue protecting their homes.
Conservation
Rainforests are the largest carbon-capturing biome on Earth, and yet humans are destroying them at an alarming rate. Protecting rainforests can provide 23% of climate mitigation currently needed to cool the planet.
Impact
Cool Earth supports 31 local and indigenous communities that collectively defend 2.1 million acres in the three largest rainforests on Earth - the Amazon, the Congo, and the Papua New Guinea rainforests.
Solutions
Cool Earth helps indigenous and local communities implement changes that not only mitigate negative effects on rainforest ecosystems, but help improve quality of life, such as implementing solar farms, aiding in wildfire mitigation, and growing new crops that have a limited impact on the environment.
